How To Play Kopanito All-Star Soccer
Basics
- Arrow keys - move (the one with a circle underneath)
- S - passing/changing players
- D - shooting/slide tackle
Passing
There are a few ways to pass the ball between players: a direct pass,
a lob pass and a through ball pass
Direct Pass
Quickly tap S
To pass directly to one of your teammates, aim with arrow keys in the direction of the receiving player and tap S quickly
Through Ball
Tap S slightly longer
If you press S a little longer, the ball will be kicked in a straight line in the direction pointed by arrow keys. Use this to send the ball between opponents or to perform more advanced tactics.
Lob pass
To make the lob pass, hold A and use arrow keys to indicate direction in which you want to kick the ball. The longer you hold, the further the ball will go. Passes and lobs can be chained, e.g. you can perform them just before your player receives the ball, but it's required to hold proper direction to the moment when the player starts kicking the ball.
Shooting
To shoot, use D. There are a few ways to shoot described below
Direct shot
By quickly pressing D, your player will make a sort of an automatic shot in the best direction according to him. The kick won't be strong, this type of shot is best used if you manage to lure an opponent's goalkeeper out of his goal. If you hold the shoot button a little longer (but not too long to not enter precise shot mode), a kick will be a little stronger.
Chip shot
Press quickly D just before receiving a pass.
This type of shot is much stronger than a direct shott, but still kick direction is automatic. It can be performed during a pass or lob. The receiving player will kick the ball in an opponent's goal just after trapping the ball. You need to press the shot button shortly before that.
Precise shot
By holding the shoot button, you will enter precise shooting mode, where you can adjust kick direction using arrow keys and apply ball's swerving. The longer you hold the button, the stronger the shot will be.
Hold W or S
The dashed targeting line can be bent by holding W or S to make the ball swerve. This is a good way to mislead the opponent's goalkeeper or to shoot from very narrow angles.
Note: a strong shot may knock down other players, including a goalkeeper.
Slide tackle
Press D to slide tackle in the direction you're moving. It is a very powerful defensive maneuver, but requires a lot of precision, especially when trying to hit a moving opponent. Yes, targeting opponents instead of the ball is a very perfidious and surprising tactic. For example, try to predict when your opponent will pass the ball next, and knock down the pass receiver before the ball reaches him. Players receiving lob passes are more vulnerable, as they are in many cases standing still and waiting for the ball.
The slide tackle can be used also to "run" faster (without the ball), to score goals by going through the goalkeeper or to cancel precise shots.
Super-moves
In the upper part of the screen, there are two skill bars that fill up during play. One bar is for your team and the other one is for opponents. When it fills up, you will receive a random super-move and a glowing icon will appear.
To activate a super-move, press E. Sometimes, it's required to hold that button longer, depending on the super-move.
Some super-moves can be used to counteract opponent super-moves.
Advanced techniques
Sprinting
Hold shift to sprint. This works only on players without the ball. Players don't have stamina and never get fatigued, so sprinting is unlimited.
Pushing forward
You can push the ball forward by quickly tapping S. This works only if there is no team member in front of your player. Then you can catch up the ball by sprinting.
Changing players
When changing players with S, it's important to indicate the direction from the player you're looking at to the ball using arrow keys. If you have left stick centered or no arrow keys pressed, then the game will select the closest player to the ball.
Lobbing the goalkeeper
You can lob the ball over a goalkeeper, just tap A briefly. Best used when the opponent's goalkeeper runs out of his goal.
Other tips
Player with the ball is slower and can't sprint. If the opponent will run into the ball when you're dribbling, then he will steal it from you. Also if you'll stop moving, you'll lose the ball, as it will roll away from your player. Of course the player with the ball can be knocked down by a precise sliding tackle, so being fast and precise is important to maintain control of the ball. If you have a problem with dribbling, then consider making more passes, as the moving ball is usually faster than any opponent.
